back home in London - the sun is out, and, yes, I have a guide book. ;)

this blog was only suppose to be a bit of a time killer whilst I was over there and also to keep mums mind at rest whilst I was out of the country. but it’s turned out to be a true to the trip moment by moment document of one of the best weeks to date. this blog thing doesn’t allow me to reverse the order of the posts so if yr new and you wanna read from the start, work yr way back from the first page.

until the next one.

thats it - my time here is done. to say this week has been amazing is an understatement, the unexpected and incredible happened and ran over my expectations again and again. it couldn’t and wouldn’t of been like this without the companionship and generosity of friends old and new, close and far - thankyou. come a couple years I will be back here and for longer than a week..maybe a year…or two? this place is good for you. the atmosphere, pace and people of this city are what make it. it’s freindly, inspiring, genuine, takes no bullshit and is truthfully cool.

I’ve met a lot of people while over here and everyone never hesitant to form a new friendship or get involved.

so, i’m going back home. at first I was bummed..but hang on, I’m going back to LONDON another one of the worlds greatest cities.. until now i’ve taken living there for granted - if you wanna make the most of someplace just jump in, forget the shit and expect the best. first thing I do when I land is get into one of those airport book shops and pick up a london guide and start my city again - from scratch.

left times square and walked around the theatre district (kind of one of those things you ‘have’ to do where here). although ive ended up back at the Ace Hotel lobby - great place to hangout and unwind - free wifi, good music, comfy sofas, varied selection of beers and a cool crowd. I could waste a whole day mooching around here.

stepped into central park and within a minuite of being there this friendly old guy came up to me and started chatting. we got speaking and he offered to show me to this great little cafe hidden away in the middle. turns out he was a homeless jazz player about to start a days work selling the big issue, but every morning before he starts he comes into central park - finds his ‘hidden spot’ and smokes a joint. after he showed me the place, I got him a coffee and he went and he got on with his day. great example of how fine the people of new york are, no matter what they do or where in the city they’re coming from, they’re always willing to show a stranger something new and engage in a friendly honest conversation.

after central park I walked along the avenues of america until I got to ‘bills burgers’ - I just experienced the greatest oreo milkshake of all time, the burger was pretty decent to. left very full and journeyed down to times square. only got a couple of hours left before I need to be at the airport…

the incredible final moments at the lcd soundsystem aftershow party last night…it’s ten minutes long, but have a watch.

the end of a era, amongst the finest people having the best time.

favourite moment is without a doubt the group rendition of Shame On You.. (around the 7min mark)

last night was unreal - the show was outstanding. highlights of the evening would first off have to be getting to upgrade our seats..when i got the tickets i could only pull seats in the 300s..but when we got to the venue you could wonder around wherever you like, nothing like back home where every possible gate is tight guarded.

so obviously, we tried our luck…and as we got down to the 70s, there on the end of a row were two free seats..it was fate…so we took our chances.

after being there a while and getting to know the people around us it turned out we were in the vip family and friends area..hence why not all the seats were taken.

we had very luckily and coincidently found ourselves having the best seats in the entire venue!

the set was very similar to the terminal 5 show, but what really made the difference was the atmosphere and the view we had of both the stage and the surround audience, it was epic.

i nearly fainted like a 14yr old beliber when i noticed arcade fire had come on to sing backing for North American Scum and also i unashamedly cried like a baby to All My Friends..

almost four hours later, after the emotional and ballon filled last song (New York I Love You) the show ended. and lcd soundsystem were no more…

but the night didn’t end there..in fact it just begun.

a friend from back home had the wonderful ways of being able to get me and terry onto the guestlist for the afterparty back at the tribeca grand hotel. so we went along, and wow was it grand. waiting in the queue to get in and i look to the right of me and who is it.. arcade fire!

we got into the place, and went down to the basement where the party was being held and it was without a doubt the single most best atmosphere i have ever been apart of. 2 many djs we’re playing with the loudest soundsystem in a tiny room to no more that maybe 100-200 people.

after a couple hours the hotel closed the party down (i’m in the process of uploading a video of the raucous now) and i left with the biggest grin.

after traveling across the world especially for this night i can be assured that it exceeded my explications ten fold and i had the best night of my life.
